Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms , Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.21% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ), which rose 2.29% or 0.15 points to trade at 6.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (ELI: SEM ) added 2.25% or 0.40 points to end at 18.20 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) was up 1.83% or 0.05 points to 2.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS SA (ELI: ALSS ), which fell 4.81% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.14 at the close. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ) declined 1.14% or 0.05 points to end at 4.15 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI: GALP ) was down 0.99% or 0.14 points to 14.07.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 13 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged.

Shares in Semapa (ELI: SEM ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.25% or 0.40 to 18.20.

Brent oil for July delivery was down 2.35% or 1.55 to $64.54 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.36% or 1.49 to hit $61.66 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.00% or 31.99 to trade at $3,220.29 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 100.71.
