Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate , Auto and Metals sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.60% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.48%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE: HROM ), which rose 6.29% or 255.70 points to trade at 4,322.90 at the close. Meanwhile, JSW Steel Ltd (NSE: JSTL ) added 4.66% or 46.10 points to end at 1,035.40 and Tata Motors Ltd (NSE: TAMO ) was up 4.23% or 29.60 points to 728.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NSE: BRIT ), which fell 0.22% or 12.00 points to trade at 5,472.00 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE: INBK ) declined 0.17% or 1.35 points to end at 780.00 and Coal India Ltd (NSE: COAL ) was up 0.10% or 0.40 points to 403.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO: TAMO ) which rose 4.16% to 728.10, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO: HCLT ) which was up 3.37% to settle at 1,692.90 and Eternal Ltd (BO: ETEA ) which gained 2.22% to close at 242.05.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which was down 0.24% to 779.70 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO: HLL ) which gained 0.16% to settle at 2,355.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO: KTKM ) which was up 0.50% to 2,102.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1651 to 711 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2502 rose and 1307 declined, while 145 ended unchanged.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.86% to 16.73.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.25% or 7.95 to $3,180.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.56% or 2.25 to hit $60.90 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.37% or 2.23 to trade at $63.86 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.11% to 85.47, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 95.82.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 100.61.
