Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials , Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.75%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (EPA: ENGIE ), which rose 1.77% or 0.35 points to trade at 19.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (EPA: SASY ) added 0.99% or 0.82 points to end at 83.29 and Orange SA (EPA: ORAN ) was up 0.72% or 0.10 points to 13.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (EPA: TEPRF ), which fell 2.47% or 2.12 points to trade at 83.68 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (EPA: PUBP ) declined 2.26% or 2.08 points to end at 90.12 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA: BNPP ) was down 2.22% or 1.70 points to 74.88.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA: EAPI ) which rose 4.14% to 3.22, Valneva (EPA: VLS ) which was up 3.85% to settle at 2.48 and Remy Cointreau (EPA: RCOP ) which gained 2.18% to close at 48.84.
The worst performers were Aperam SA (AS: APAM ) which was down 4.12% to 26.06 in late trade, Eurazeo (EPA: EURA ) which lost 3.49% to settle at 59.45 and X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA: XFAB ) which was down 3.18% to 6.54 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 273 to 196 and 92 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.60 to $3,343.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.87% or 0.58 to hit $66.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.55 to trade at $68.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.63.
