Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.96%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: GMEXICOB ), which rose 0.93% or 1.05 points to trade at 113.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV: PINFRA ) added 0.87% or 1.88 points to end at 216.75 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV: GFNORTEO ) was up 0.72% or 1.24 points to 173.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALFAA ), which fell 3.86% or 0.57 points to trade at 14.19 at the close. Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ) declined 3.75% or 0.34 points to end at 8.72 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV: TLEVISACPO ) was down 3.30% or 0.29 points to 8.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 154 to 80 and 19 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $3,346.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.14% or 1.42 to hit $67.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 1.28 to trade at $69.58 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.04% to 18.67, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 21.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 97.20.
