Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.75% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which rose 4.31% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.21 at the close. Meanwhile, CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) added 2.53% or 0.20 points to end at 8.11 and EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ) was up 1.99% or 0.20 points to 10.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ibersol SGPS (ELI: IBS ), which fell 0.21% or 0.02 points to trade at 9.72 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (ELI: CORA ) declined 0.13% or 0.01 points to end at 7.96 and The Navigator Company SA (ELI: NVGR ) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 3.27.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 20 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.53% or 0.20 to 8.11.
Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.24% or 0.17 to $70.32 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $68.55 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 1.02 to trade at $3,317.92 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.26.
