Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT , Industrials and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.65% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Thomson Reuters Corp (TSX: TRI ), which rose 7.74% or 21.08 points to trade at 293.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR ) added 6.08% or 0.55 points to end at 9.59 and Shopify Inc (TSX: SHOP ) was up 4.26% or 6.53 points to 159.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX: WDO ), which fell 5.33% or 0.97 points to trade at 17.22 at the close. Fortuna Mining Corp (TSX: FVI ) declined 4.65% or 0.44 points to end at 9.03 and Aritzia Inc (TSX: ATZ ) was down 2.74% or 2.06 points to 73.08.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 553 to 328 and 100 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.41% to 8.62.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 10.30 to $3,353.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.22% or 1.52 to hit $66.93 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.19 to trade at $69.17 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.10% to 0.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 97.78.
